We met outside the Marietta Square Market. Two of us rode up from Smyrna along the Mountain-to-River trail (M2R). We started along the M2R and headed south, through downtown Marietta. Despite the blistering temperatures, there were a lot of people out! It shows that good infrastructure draws people out, despite some adverse conditions.

We proceeded along Dixie Avenue, and got back onto some trails. Around Larry Bell Park, we encountered more pedestrians and the path was a bit circuitous for bike infrastructure, with a zig-zag pattern. Some participants pointed out how this could be unsafe for cyclists, who possibly could run into rails. Along the second half of the route, the roads were great for cyclists! Cars passed us at safe speeds through calm neighborhood streets.

Overall, we felt there was a great opportunity to provide great cycling infrastructure. Using these quiet roads with additional traffic calming, bike routes could be established across the city to improve mobility, outside the personal car.

Join us for our next ride on July 20th, at Marietta Square Market!
